'There's a hole in my Phucket', dear Jodi, dear Jodi! Because of which, 'I'm busy doing nothing, happy the 'hole' day through, trying to find lots of things not to do'! You could be in a chocolate factory and then you would have 'too much to do and not enough time to do it'. Eating chocolate of course.

Jodi, you are an absolute inspiration.

Though, like Jacqui, I love me some garlic.

Thank you for so much!

I'm with you on everything but garlic, sunbathing, and Thomas Hardy. The first two are a side-effect of being half-Italian, the third an accidental side-effect of detesting Emily Brontë. When everyone else in my English A Level class was adoring the horrible Heathcliff et al, I was championing Tess Durbeyfield - initially, just to be contrary. But since I've learned more about Hardy, I love her (and him) even more. Any book "shunned for immorality" in 1891 is worth a go.

Sadly, life is increasingly a matter of doing things I don't want to do--never wanted to do--but can't avoid. My Homeric monthly struggle with the Veterans Administration's automated prescription renewal line heads the list. I have to defeat three successive systems which are there to help me by reciting threats and warnings in a dull monotone and demanding I punch in 40+ numbers in a precise order which varies each time. And like Hector at the gates of Troy, all my victories are temporary. Add in everyone who only wants 10-20 minutes of my time to fill in their form. What's 10 minutes times six billion?

And then there's the leaky bucket list: all the things I'd like to do but

--the person I'd like to do it with is dead/senile/can't travel that far.

--the restaurant--in fact the entire chain of restaurants (or bakeries)--is closed.

--the library/convention/shop has been modernized beyond recognition

--it would involve travel.

I'm with you on travel, but the grandchildren remain 600 miles away. I think they do it on purpose. Mind, you, they may be right.

I'd add TV channels beyond number 25 on the remote TV guide. There is nothing good being shown. Also it takes toooooooo long to scroll that far and life is to short for that.
