Hazel wants me to call this one – What I Did In My Holidays.
Well, I wrote. Of course I did. What did you think I did?
Oh, and I might have eaten some cheese.
Anyway, here we are – another year closer to the grave. This cheery point of view comes to you courtesy of a period of substantial overeating. I am now suffering mild cheese fatigue.
It’s also that time of the year when supplies are severely depleted but not yet depleted enough to trouble Tesco. I’ve rather enjoyed some bizarre meals this last week as I used up the last of the chocolate bombe, the cheese no one liked, a dubious bowl of cold sprouts, something that might be chicken gravy but might equally be something else, the boring biscuits, and the wrinkled satsuma I found in the salad crisper – because fruit is an important part of a balanced diet. Plus, of course, the thing gestating in the plastic container for which no one will accept responsibility. I’m betting that will still be at the back of the fridge next Christmas.
New Year’s Resolutions – yes, I have made some.
Watch Wolverine and Deadpool at least once a week because it’s even funnier the second time around.
Pay more attention to my work/life balance. More work – less life seems to be the way to go. And, while I’m at it – more chocolate, more cheese, more reading, more Netflix. If I have to make these New Year resolution thing-thingies then the least I can do is choose some I have a faint chance of achieving.
Turning to other matters – thank you for your kind reaction to A Bachelor Establishment. Thanks to those of you reading it for the first time and I hope those who, like me, are re-reading it, are enjoying it (remember to comment for a chance to win a free copy.) It’s really rather strange because it’s a long time since I wrote it and I’d forgotten some parts. Quite an odd sensation.
Things to come – the next Elizabeth Cage story – Bad Moon – is out on 22nd May, and the sixth Time Police book – Out of Time – is published in September or October. I’m sorry I can’t give you the exact date. They do tell me these things but I don’t seem able to retain the information. Or, according to parents, teachers, employers, publishers … agents … I just don’t listen.
And Jodiworld in May, of course. I’m really looking forward to that and hope to see some of you there.
Anyway, Happy New Year, everyone.
