I was brought up in Helmsley and often used to visit Rievaulx as a kid.
My brother, an arecheometallurgist built a medieval kiln at Rievaulx to show how they did itt
I love Rievaulx and have visited a number of times. What a lovely story to share too! Thankyou.
Must have been strange to read about it being set in your home town?
I am not religious but am in awe of the beauty of various religious sites -- Rievaulx, Delphi, and a Buddhist monastery in an extinct volcano in Malaysia i visited in 1984.
Helmsley as capital of Britain? Quite right!
😉😍
Imagine what would have happened if it had been a BLT!
I enjoyed the way this was written, formal but with the humorous undertone there. Interesting concept!
As I just finished planting my vegetable garden, this report was timely! "Brought his own buttie, Cutty," is genius!
