But Max soon finds herself grappling with a near-lethal game of pooh sticks, another avian incursion and two turbulent teenagers intent on piloting their own illegal jump. Another excellent short story. How lovely to meet Smallhope and Pennyroyal! I'm glad Elsbeth was able to save the day. It's interesting to reread these short stories now that I've read everything else. One can try to spot the clues and the foreshadowing to books later in the series.
