Really like this. Old school hard sci-fi. So intriguing, I immediately want to say 'and then... and then...' I do hope you're keeping notes as to where else the story can go.
Thanks! I have at least two story lines drawn out for Tonal Gray - though I have to admit, what/or who he is still remains a mystery, though i’ve gathered up several stories about him - some contradictory - I keep working as he is an interesting subject.
Keep solving the mystery! Maybe initially consider him as the subject of linked short stories, before you plunge into stitching together a longer book length narrative? I'm sure you'll come across a thread that will eventually intrigue you enough to get those 75k + words together all in one place. 😀
In fact I have all the different stories so far in one document under a working umbrella title of "Collection" and have thought the same thing of them as disparate parts made whole by the common thread of the Mystery of Tonal Gray. The work continues.
I hope this is the start of a series!!

I think that will happen when I find an ending point - that's still a bit murky. But I'm working on it.
