I enjoyed this, apart from what seems like at least three glaring spelling/gramatical errors. I am not sure at what point they appeared, but I wouldn't mind a few hours a week doing an online proof reading job...just saying 😆
These are entirely my fault. If you want to know the truth, I had a Brilliant Idea, as Max would say, sat down after dinner one night and typed this out and sent it off immediately. Have resolved never to do so again, especially when there is wine with dinner!
I do apologise! I thought these stories had been chosen out of loads of entries? In which case I presumed initial errors would have been either gently pointed out or changed before publishing in here!
I really did enjoy the tale though. Don't stop writing - you have a talent 😍
My Substack story is my latest venture into the thicket, but I've also published books through a hybrid publisher (be careful if you go that route, some are reputable and others, not so much) and Draft2Digital. I can't say I necessarily recommend one over the others--you choose how much money/time/effort you can afford to put out--but they're all paths to seeing your words in print.
Thanks for signing up for my serial nonsense, and good luck!!

I don’t know how many entries they get - but it really is my fault for not proofreading better. I got carried away. And thank you!
Well done! I think you have a new hobby/career in the offing (it's all in the choices).
Right after I find my way through the thickets of self publishing ;-)
I see you went the Substack route and I have signed up there to read the rest of your ‘David Sands’ story.
Get yourself a machete... it's thorny out there!

Sort of a Time Police Community Service office.
Hope you write more. Really enjoyed this.
