No, I’m not talking about using one of St Mary’s pods to visit Stonehenge, or even Old Sarum hill fort, being constructed or used. Would be good if we could though.
I’m talking about two friends and fans of Jodi Taylor’s books jumping out of a perfectly good, working aeroplane at 15,000 feet at Old Sarum airfield, Salisbury on Saturday 11 October 2025. For charity. With a parachute.
I met Allie on one of Jodi’s Facebook groups over four years ago and we have become known as double trouble, initiating shenanigans and giving out ‘side quests’ at the two JodiWorld Conventions.
A skydive has been on Allie’s bucket list for years but she’s terrified of heights!
I have kindly joined her to ensure that she leaves the plane (with lots of encouragement or a little push if needs be) and gets to experience 60 seconds of freefall at up to 125 mph before the parachute opens. We are each doing a tandem jump with an experienced professional. No, they don’t know what they’ve let themselves in for!
Depending on the wind direction, there is a good chance that we will be able to see either Stonehenge and/or Old Sarum hill fort on the way down. Well I will, Allie will have to open her eyes first to see anything!
Photos and possibly a video will be available after the event. Come back here to see.

Bookmark aren’t a huge charity and every penny will count! We have therefore paid for our skydive ourselves so that everything donated goes to directly to the charity.
What do Bookmark Reading charity aim to do?
Around 200,000 children leave primary school in England each year unable to read to the expected standard – that is 1 in 4 children. This has to change.
By increasing the reading age of children before they move up to secondary school, they are given a fighting chance to start secondary school stronger and then achieve more at GCSE. With higher GCSE results there comes better employability and an opportunity to change the direction and trajectory of their future.
How do Bookmark do it?
Bookmark is an exciting literacy charity that is helping children in the most disadvantaged communities develop the reading skills they need to succeed in school and beyond, by creating flexible volunteering at the heart of our communities. Bookmark aims to improve children’s literacy by promoting a reading for pleasure culture in primary schools.
Bookmark is a charity with a fresh approach. Their innovative, cost-effective digital platform matches schools with local volunteers who have been safeguarded, vetted and trained by Bookmark. Their initiatives are designed to make a significant difference in these children’s lives.
Bookmark’s “One-to-one Reading Programme” has supported thousands of children, boosting their reading skills, confidence and motivation. By partnering with schools, they enrich libraries with diverse books and foster a strong whole-school reading culture, significantly improving reading attainment and transforming educational outcomes.
