The Elizabeth Cage series by Jodi Taylor
For fans of thrillers with a paranormal twist
The Elizabeth Cage series by Jodi Taylor is a gripping blend of psychological suspense, mystery, and the supernatural, showcasing a darker and more introspective side of Jodi’s storytelling. The series follows Elizabeth Cage, an ordinary woman whose life is turned upside down after the death of her husband. Gifted—or perhaps cursed—with an innate sensitivity to the hidden forces that shape the world, Elizabeth finds herself drawn into a shadowy realm where nothing is as it seems.
The series begins with White Silence, introducing Elizabeth’s talent for seeing beyond the surface of reality. Her abilities make her a target for those who wish to exploit her, forcing her into a dangerous game of survival and self-discovery. As she uncovers disturbing truths about herself and the people who seek to control her, Elizabeth must confront her fears and fight to survive in a world far darker than she ever imagined.
With Taylor’s trademark wit and a tense, suspenseful atmosphere, Dark Light is a thrilling exploration of the supernatural, filled with twists that will keep readers hooked until the final page.
In Long Shadows Elizabeth must confront a series of mysteries that push her abilities—and her courage—to their limits. As she navigates a shadowy landscape of danger and deception she discovers the true origins of her gift.
Something unpleasant is heading Elizabeth’s way in Bad Moon. There's blood on her doorstep every morning and there's a sinister note threatening her life.
The one that seems to have been written by Elizabeth herself . . .
Taylor’s signature humour is present but tempered by a more suspenseful and brooding atmosphere. The Elizabeth Cage series explores themes of trust, resilience, and the blurred lines between good and evil, all while keeping readers on edge with twists and revelations.
With its richly drawn characters, unsettling mysteries, and supernatural intrigue, The Elizabeth Cage series offers a compelling departure from Taylor’s lighter works, appealing to fans of thrillers with a paranormal twist.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant - I’m obsessed with Jodi Taylor
As someone who has read through the entire St Mary’s and Time Police back catalogues in the last 2 years! Thank you for keeping me sane (and awake) during new born nights Jodi!!!
I was intrigued by the Elizabeth Cage series, and as a fan of the Rivers of London books, the word ‘supernatural’ also hooked me in. And I’m so glad I got reeled in on this adventure.
There is something so refreshing about the character of Elizabeth. She’s so unknowingly strong and smart, incredibly gifted and yet with an ordinariness we can all relate to. I worried she would be a Max (St Mary’s) Mark 2 - but she isn’t!
The humour and banter, I’ve come to love from Jodi Taylor writing is there. But there were also moments of genuine fear and heartbreak.
So pleased I listened to my kindle recommendations 2 years ago and fell in love with Jodi Taylor’s books!!!
5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing change of style
Only read St Mary's and Time Police before but this a new and exciting direction. Took me a day to read as not put downable
5.0 out of 5 stars Breathtaking.
There was a little hesitation before I decided to read this book. The St. Mary's series has become a regular read with the author very high on my list of favourite authors. A new series with clearly a totally different theme might not reach my expectations.
Need not have worried, though it is so different already it is clear to me that her exemplary standards have been maintained.
This is quite a complex story leaving the reader wondering what is and isn't real.
Brilliant storyline and with a few main characters who are so well portrayed that you feel you know them right from the start. Nothing is further from the truth. No spoilers but having read the book twice I am not sure of anything. That clearly let's me know this is something special.
I could easily wax lyrical about the story but this is one you have to experience for yourself. Sorry.
All I can say is that, though so completely different to St. Mary's, it really does hold you from first to last page. There is no way you will be disappointed.
My thanks to Jodi Taylor. I don't know how you do it but please keep doing it.

I absolutely love the Elizabeth Cage series. As with all her books, the characters are real, relatable and ones you are happy to invite into your own life through reading about them. What I really treasure in all Jodi Taylor books, is that she's not afraid to go to the extremes of human emotion and experience. And she's an artist with her words, painting amazing scenes that you believe you're a part of, including heart break, terrified freezing, heart stopping romance, despair, exasperation... you feel everything. The Elizabeth Cage series embroiders this skill incredibly richly into the fabric of the storyline. Impossible to recommend highly enough.
