I’ve enjoyed all I’ve read but find them difficult to get into. They take such along time to get going that I lose interest for a while.

Absolutely love this series, eagerly awaiting number nine, 'Clown Town'. The series on Apple TV is good too, all the cast are great - I can't pick one out as being 'the best'. I'v always liked Gary Oldman.

I saw a block of them, (the whole series to that point) in Dymocks, Melbourne, about four years ago. I read the blurb on a few books and bought the first two in the series.

It then sat on the shelf for about three years in the TBR pile before I read the first one. I ordered 3 +4 before I started the second one. This was repeated as I tore through the series. I've just received the signed special re-issue of the first book I ordered from the UK.

A great read, with a vicious sense of humour, good character development- when they are allowed to live more than two books- and decent plots with enough twists and turns to keep you interested.

Probably not the best motivational speech to one of your employees after he's been beaten up by the opposition, but Jackson Lamb is probably not the best employer. "If they threatened to kill you, on the other hand, I'd buy 'em a beer and the bullets."

I'll second the recommendation, and have read the entire series to date. Well plotted, good characterization and some of the best dialogue I've ever read. (Still waiting for the Apple series to come out on DVD.)

I love the series in written form and as audiobooks read by Sean Barrett. I have now read and listened several times over. Such great characters! I have a particular fondness for Katherine Standish. The grouchy, dyspeptic tone is deeply enjoyable and the plots are depressingly believable. The AppleTV series is a brilliant adaptation with an excellent ensemble cast and all the characters portrayed on screen are faithful to their book selves.
