LOVED this story. Although I am really a medievalist, I always particularly enjoy a taste of Ancient Egypt and it has put me right in the mood for a city building game I have called Pharaoh ;-) Beautiful moments with Max and Leon too

I never have a clue how things will pan out. I love to lose myself in St Mary's. No matter how often you read these stories, they always seem new. I've always focused on the support displayed by the various characters but now I'm giggling at the thought of the different groups following each other around the shipyard. Thanks Jodi x

All the backstories... Every scene that's centered on Max and Leon makes me a very happy reader.

I finished this one yesterday! One thing that I love about these stories is that they are so carefully interwoven with the main books. You could read them as holiday stand alones, but they add so much richness and depth and complexity to the characters and the world of St. Mary's. I loved the beautiful moment between Max and Leon at the end.

Thank you. For some reason - don't ask me why - I was a little concerned people might not like this one. I was wrong. That happens quite a lot so I'm used to it. I've had quite a few people say this one is their favourite.

I’m having such a lovely time today. Have a list of things I’m not doing but instead have reread 3 of the short stories. This one was sadder than the others- poor Elspeth- but also very amusing and heart warming.
