It’s been another busy week…
The final proofs for this year’s Christmas story – Lights! Camera! Mayhem! have gone back to Headline. Plus – the cover design has been finalised – finally – and should be showing on Amazon etc in a few days. Watch this space for Hazel’s Big Reveal. To be clear – that’s the cover reveal, not … Hazel.
It’s a St Mary’s Christmas story again this year – so heads up – Calvin Cutter is back to liaise with Max on historical details for his latest masterpiece – Tempora and the Fall of Troy. Obviously the story of Troy has undergone a certain amount of … creative rewriting. This time he’s accompanied by his leading man – the darkly handsome Dirk Thrust, together with his leading lady, Astrid Gustaffson. Or, as she’s popularly known – Tempora the Time Travelling Tottie. Obviously, everything goes horribly wrong. And there’s an eagle.
In further news, I have only the final copy edits for Bad Moon to complete and then that’s all ready to go as well. It’s been a busy old year but I’m feeling nicely up to date at the moment.
I’m so thrilled with the reception The Ballad of Smallhope and Pennyroyal has received Thank you to everyone who was kind enough to post a review. To know that people enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it makes me very happy. There’s some news about the next Zoom meeting to discuss this latest book which I shall leave to Hazel to impart.
It was lovely to see everyone at the Wallingford Bookshop last Saturday. Loads of people turned up and we all had a huge Smallhope and Pennyroyal gossip, massive chats about books and the writing thereof, chocolate, dogs, history and loads more good stuff. If you ever find yourself near Wallingford, apart from the fact it’s a beautiful little town with lovely shops – I bought another picture – it’s a great place to visit. AND it has a fabulous bookshop there.
Regarding public events, that’s it for me now until next May when it’s JodiWorld again. I can get my head down and do some solid writing. I’ve notified everyone that I’m in my pyjamas until May – possibly June. Not the same pair of PJs, obviously – you will be able to approach me with confidence at JodiWorld – but the thought of just schlepping around the house in fleecy PJs and my comfy cosy dressing gown, drinking tea and eating toast is very appealing.
See you next May!

The History of Battersea Power Station
In Jodi Taylor’s Time Police series, Battersea Power Station is reimagined as the headquarters for the Time Police, a futuristic law enforcement agency tasked with maintaining the integrity of the timeline. Jodi's choice to repurpose this historic London landmark as the headquarters of an organization overseeing time travel is both imaginative and symbolic. It reflects a central theme in her books: the blend of history, science, and the modern world. Battersea’s imposing, industrial structure—with its towering chimneys and immense brickwork—lends itself perfectly to the image of a powerful, bureaucratic institution like the Time Police. In this History Briefing we explore the history of Battersea Power Station before the Time Police took over.
Killing Time is just 99p or 99 cents on Kindle this month - grab it while you can!
The link for the Zoom Chat will be shared in the newsletter on Friday 25th October.
