Just a very quick note this week because there’s quite a lot happening at the moment.
For those of you who have asked – I’m tanking on with Smallhope and Pennyroyal 2 – tentatively entitled When Things Are Bad Make Them Worse, in which the unthinkable has happened. I have to say I’m enjoying giving our heroes a really tough time.
I’ve also started this year’s Christmas story. It seems really strange to be thinking of this Christmas when I’m still recovering from the last one but there we go. I’ve made a start, anyway.
I spent most of last week casting an eye over the forthcoming Reading Companion and History Briefings for the Chronicles of St Mary’s series, which, with good luck and a following wind, will be out in May and available at Jodiworld. I’m also drafting a very short story for the Jodiworld Convention Souvenir Brochure. It’s going to be the first Elizabeth Cage short story – told from an unusual point of view. I hope everyone enjoys it.
And, taking priority over everything – the edits of Out of Time have landed on my desk - this is out on the 9th of October in hardback, eBook and audiobook.
I’m trying to spend a little time on each task every day. I’ll just keep nibbling away until it’s all done, but as you can see – busy, busy. You might not hear from me for a little while but I’m greatly looking forward to May and meeting up with old friends – and making new ones – at Jodiworld.
Have a good week.

Boat Building in Egypt During the Reign of Hatshepsut
The reign of Queen Hatshepsut, who ruled Egypt during the 18th Dynasty from around 1479 to 1458 BC, is one of the most fascinating periods in ancient Egyptian history. Known for her ambitious building projects and trade expeditions, a remarkable expansion in the arts and industry marked Hatshepsut’s time on the throne. One of her reign’s most significant technological advancements was in the field of boat-building. This was crucial not only for military and transport purposes but also for the famous expedition to Punt, which Hatshepsut ordered in her 9th regnal year.

Artists in Crime by Ngaio Marsh 💙📚
It’s a difficult case for Chief Detective Inspector Alleyn. How can he believe that the woman he loves is a murderess? And yet no one can be above suspicion… 💙📚 https://amzn.to/4j28nI1

The Book of the Month for February is Dark Light
In "Dark Light," the gripping second instalment of Jodi Taylor's Elizabeth Cage series, our protagonist, Elizabeth, finds herself betrayed, terrified, and utterly alone. Fleeing her past, she seeks refuge in the seemingly idyllic village of Greyston. However, Greyston harbours dark secrets, and Elizabeth becomes entangled in an ancient ceremony destined to culminate in death. As she navigates this perilous situation, the relentless Sorensen Institute continues its pursuit, and the enigmatic Michael Jones remains elusive. In a world where danger lurks in every shadow, Elizabeth must confront her deepest fears to survive. Jodi Taylor masterfully blends suspense, supernatural elements, and rich character development, delivering a thriller that will keep readers on the edge of their seats.

Good grief girl, you are wearing me out just reading about how busy you are! Take a break, have a cup of tea.
Will there be more Chronicles of St Mary’s or is the story to continue through the Time Police series and the Smallhope and Pennyroyal series instead? I enjoy all of the book series greatly but am very attached to Max and the St Mary’s gang in particular.
