Flint in the Bones - The first book in The Norwich Map Runners Series, by Eva St John.๐๐
Jodi Taylor #BookRecommendation
I bought this some time ago and I donโt know why I didnโt get around to reading it sooner, because I really loved it. The plot is very different โ a mixture of time travel, police procedure, magic and murder mystery. And itโs great to see urban fantasy set somewhere other in London. I now have an overpowering urge to visit Norwich.
Poor old Norwich has experienced some sort of magical and temporal cataclysm, resulting in different people from different time periods suddenly being dumped in the present which, since thereโs no warning, can result in a wild ride for its inhabitants. And a bit of a shock for the actual occupants of an old house who can suddenly find twenty other people all claiming to live there.
The characters are vivid and very well drawn and I loved the dog, Harry.
I never liked to give away too much of the plot but police detective Eliza Barnaby manages to fall foul of a couple of rather unpleasant London magical practitioners and finds herself seconded to Norwich to bring back an escaped and homicidal renegade magician who manages to confuse Eliza by saving her life.
Thereโs magic, wolves, Puritans โ as irritating today as theyโve always been โ bad tempered sheriffs, nuns, the Lady Julian, and an engaging Springer spaniel.
Book two โ Fire in the Flint โ will be out on the 26th of March โ so not long to wait โ which is just as well because Iโm not famed for my patience and I canโt wait to find out what happens next โ and thereโs even a third book โ Blood in the Maps โ published on the 26th of November this year, so lots to look forward to. Both these titles are available for pre-order.
Have you enjoyed this book too?

Wow! Thank you so much for the shout-out, and delighted you enjoyed it. I suspect you would love Norwich; history simple oozes out of the flints. But you'd need to leave your characters behind, Norwich has enough chaos, God knows their timelines have been destroyed enough already! :D
In preparation for the launch of book two this week, I am about to drop the Kindle price to 99p if any of your fans are keen to try it out for a mere smidgen of a cost.
The Quantum Curators series was brilliant, so I will definitely be trying this new series.
