25. Entry from Sharon McGregor
A Valentine’s poetry competition for lovers of history
She sits, boyishly coy
Waiting & watching the men enjoy
Her apparent disinterest in the day’s proceedings
Knowing that when came the kings heedings
It will be her battle cry the enemy will hear
Her God her heart will cheer
Her mission completed for the man she loves & obeys
Her Valentine her saviour for all her days
Joan will conquer until her hour ends
In the flames, fire her only friend.
